Perfect Peace: Believer’s privilege

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3.

The effect of having absolute trust in the Lord is inexplicable and incomparable. It’s a wonderful privilege to know the Lord Almighty as our Saviour, Master and The Rock upon whom we can put our confidence in any state of our life.

One of the blessings that we can experience as we depend upon Him is the perfect peace that is beyond all human understanding and standard. Peace is not a state where there are no problems at all. It’s a gracious gift of God that enables us to be calm and quite in spite of the manifold trials that we face.

People of this world are trying to find peace through various ways. Many think wealth, health, education, food, drinks, entertainment etc can bring peace to their trouble heart. Increased suicide by well to do people prove against this assumption. Some others follow various gurus and self-help methods. Another relatively new system is laughter.

The Bible says, “There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.” Isaiah 48:22. Because Christ died for our sins and rose again from the dead, we can draw near to God confessing our sins and pleading for forgiveness and cleansing. It is then, being justified by faith we have peace with God and peace of God indwells in our heart.

The secret behind the tranquility that a Christian experiences is the consistent communion that he has with Christ. For him, there is no need to search for peace, nor manufacture it through some other way. God keeps Him in peace, perfect peace. What a blessed privilege!
